What happens when we believe the gospel?
Believing the gospel produces a change in you in the following ways:
- Please God
- Bear fruit
- Increase in the knowledge of God
- Transferred from darkness to the kingdom of light
- We are redeemed
- Forgiven of sins
- Strengthened with all power
- Share in the inheritance of the saints the same inheritance of Jesus
- We are reconciled
- We are presented as holy, blameless and above reproach to God
New Creatures
Yes we are new creatures when we believe. It is difficult to grasp. We have the same body, we have the same memories of the past, we have the same family and friends and job or go to the same school; however we are new.
Our thinking is about our physical life but we are a spirit that possess a soul wrapped in a body. We are a new creature and we have a new outcome and we live in a new neighborhood and we have new knowledge and abilities.
Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son
Here we are given a new address and a new family.
Power
Colossians 1:11-12 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
Power here means strength power and ability. It is power that is in us. It is the power to perform miracles. John14:12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
Reconciled
Colossians 1:22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him,
We are brought back to harmony with God like Adam and Eve had before they eat from the tree. We can walk and talk with God and have a personal relationship with God.
There is joy and peace when you believe the gospel. Believing that Jesus was – is and will be God. That He died for our sins and was raised from the dead. This is the gospel, the good news. When we believe the things above happen to us.
