Acts of Terrorism – What Should Christians Do

acts of terrorismActs Of Terrorism

God has given us three institutions.  He gave us the nation, the church and the family.  We are members of all three institutions (I am talking to believers).  When we see an acts of terrorism then we should look at it in 3 ways.

The nation yields the sword and judges.   This can be done with courts or with the military.  I think it is clear from the Bible that internal matters are handled with the court system and the military is to protect the nation and use the sword against other nations. Habakkuk 6:6 For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, who march through the breadth of the earth,  to seize dwellings not their own.

The nation or in this case the government has over stepped its bounds in concern to the church and the family in certain situations.  Some examples are to provide abortion for every person that is employed or the ban on spanking children.

The federal government has especially over stepped their bounds.  I believe this because the states have given them too much power.  The federal government is a child of the states.  Would you let your children determine how much allowance they get and what TV shows you could watch and how you can use your money and other property?

This is exactly what the states have done when they passed the 16th  (income tax)and 17th  (elect Senators) amendments.

Fathers and mothers are to educate and raise their children in what is right.   Fathers are to love their wife unconditionally and sacrificially. He is to love their children.  Wife is to love her husband and children. Children are to obey and respect their parents and care for them elderly parents when they need it.

Deuteronomy 6:7-9 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.  You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

The church has several functions one is to encourage others 1 Thessalonians 4:18 Encourage one another and build each other up”

Another is to teach Matthew 28:19-20 “Go and make disciples of all nations…teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you”.

A third is to serve others Galatians 6:10  “As we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers”

To punish acts of terrorism is a matter left for the nation.  It can be done with the military or with the courts.

As Christians we are to pray for the families, to help where we can, to show love to others no matter their religion or nation. As a family, we should treat acts of terrorism as terrorism.  Teach our family what terrorism is and how God protects us. Read Psalm 91 to your family.

I can’t find a verse that says our family is to take vengeance or the church should hunt down terrorists. Our families are to teach and help family members.  Our churches are to serve those without helping families or those that have a spiritual, physical, mental  or financial need.  Church is also for teaching and encouraging.
